File sharing between Vista and XP on the computer?

I have a hard drive that I split into two partitions. One is my XP and the other is my Vista. My accounts on both XP and Vista have passwords.

To access any single file or even look into a folder, I have to go to the file or folder and right click, properties, security, advanced, owner, edit, add myself, ok, ok, then advanced again, permissions, edit, add, add myself, give myself full control, ok, ok.

It only works on single files. To look into a folder, I have to do this, but it won;t work on any file or subfolder of that folder. Most of my music is on my C Drive, and stupid Vista won't let me access it. I am not going to edit the security settings of 2000+ songs one by one, and no, selecting all and then the process doesn't work.

How can I remove this extremely annoying feature of Vista? I want to be able to explore and access all my C Drive (XP) files freely.

Do not give me a link, that is what google is for. I asked you for help, now give me help, not a link.

You must disable user account control.

Unfortunately this is the only way to do that.

1. Open Administrative Tools in Control Panel

2. Double-click on System Configuration

3. Click Continue to accept the UAC prompt

4. Select the Tools tab

5. Scroll down and select Disable UAC

6. Click Launch

7. Reboot your machine

Good luck!
