You probably caught this infection by attempting to watch a video at some website. The site said you "needed" a codec or a Active-X control, so then you downloaded it to watch the video. This was actually a ruse. A scam. It was not a codec at all. (The video would have played fine without that "Codec")! What you actually downloaded was a trojan.

This trojan then "phoned home" and downloaded the malware which causes the "Critical System Error" alerts on your computer. Without your knowledge or consent.

"It works like this: Infect your system, display warning popups, install a rogue antispyware application, and then charge you to buy the program that claims to remove the infection they installed."

You need to totally remove the trojan that is causing this. Unless it is totally removed, it can access the internet, and automatically download even more malware to your computer.
