You should try advanced windows care. It might help you out. It is also free.
download mozilla firefox 2.0

http://mozilla.com
Sounds like you downloaded that Internet explorer 7 junk Delete it go back to 6.0
Your screen turning off is likely to be to do with your Power Settings.

Right click Desktop and click Properties, click ScreenSaver and click Power Settings. Then make sure the turn off screen is set to a later time or Never - depending on if you want it to turn off.

For IE 7 crashing, I am not sure. Check that it isn't the website or reinstall program.

I use Mozilla FireFox because I prefer it.
well it can be that u have a virus or u just have too much stuff on ur computer, if u have an old computer and u keep on adding new stuff to it then it's gonna crash because well it's old.
Probably due to the latest windows update. I had a big update from windows this morning and mine is doing the same thing. I may wind up restoring my computer to an earlier date because of that. My screen isn't turning on and off...but it is freezing up and IE keeps crashing.
It might be something like your ISP or your modem. You might want to call Comcast or Verizon or whoever provides your internet to make sure there's nothing wrong.
aha! I see that some of the answerers above have downloaded IE7 and the new updates.you should set updates to notify you but let you choose when to install updates.then read the forums on what the updates are doing to every ones computers before you install them.you can get info at http://www.PCworld.com about the updates.I never let my pc do it auto.I have read today that some of the new 10-14-2006 updates are causing the exact problems that you %26 the rest have.restore to monday before updates %26 see if fixes.and then if does remove them.but read the forum at pcworld for all knowlage
Try Spyware Strike %26 clean it up
