My computer, using Windows XP and accessing the internet via Internet Explorer 6, is preventing any

I cannot download any programs from the internet at all, even Microsoft Updates. I have Zone Alarm Security Suite running as a virus checker and am getting no reports of a virus. I have also tried this with Spybot with no indication of a problem. I connect via a Firewall router.

All I get is the message Access denied, Page Blocked or HTTP 404 error message.

It is also preventing me from updating my Zonealarm updates.

Anyone any ideas?

uninstall zone alarm software first and use AVG antivirus as virus security software.

First, try to identify what's preventing you from downloading stuff.

Try shutting down each security program that you have. Specially the Zone Alarm firewall.

If that's not the reason, try accessing your router manufacturer's website or the instructions manual to see if there could be a reason for blocking the internet traffic.
I would start using other browsers such as Firefox or opera. I had problems with internet explorer myself though not the same as yours, i couldn't open a pop up window or download without restarting trouble. internet explorer is vulnerable to viruses mate .the switch to opera and firefox has been worth it. no problems just quick downloads especially with firefox. i cant even make up my mind which of the two is better
