My Vista Computer experiences frequent crashes while performing simple tasks?

I attempted to check my email and open microsoft word. Every time, it kept crashing for no reason, and it kept displaying login process has failed to create security options dialog when i hit ctrl alt delete. Why is this happening, if you know, please tell me how to fix it.

I would try to eliminate 3rd party software

From the Start menu, click All Programs and click Accessories.

Click Run. A Run window (command prompt) appears.

Type msconfig in the Open field and click OK.

Click on the startup tab, at the bottom click disable all

Click on the services tab, at the bottom check off Hide all MS services. then click disable all

Reboot see if it still happens.

If this fixes the issue, reopen msconfig, click the services tab and enable all, restart, see if the pc is still working fine, if not you need to figure out what software in that list is the issue, uncheck one at a time till you figure it out. then uninstall or upgrade that program.

Also if the services are not the issue , click the startup tab

It sounds like you don't have administrator privileges.
