Sounds like a memory problem to me, my computer is slow, and is squeaky clean. I would suggest buying more RAM especially if your system isn't maxed out. If that dont solve it competely, you could try getting a bigger hard drive or installing a program that better manages your files. Have you tried the operating system's disc cleanup or file defragmenting, perhaps deleting uneeded programs or temporary internet files. Hope this helps, even upgrading the BIOS could do it.
Well I think you shoud by more memory. But if this is a problem on the internet then you should get a faster connection. Though it could be a problem with the browser you are using so try changing it. Try getting McAfee anti-virus.
Try and remove as much junk as you can from the PC. Run disk cleanup or CCleaner and remove the temporary files, clear cache etc. Reduce the number of items on your startup list. Uninstall all unwanted programs. Most often an overloaded HDD which also gets severely fragmented becomes the cause of performance deterioration. since a lot of users never use their drive utilities and many dont know what fragmentation is, it siltenly kills performance. Run a defrag, if its been ages, download a program that will defrag fast and well.
Has it always been slow or just recently? May just need to run disk clean up and defrag, if it has always been that way how much ram are you running and what processor?

I say go to start, all programs. accessories, system tools and run disk cleanup, check all the boxes and delete all the things, then go to same system tools and run defrag, may take a long time but will improve speed a lot
Maybe you could get a new anti-virus for free called AVG free.
