I've got Norton Internet Security so far and Windows Defender. What else can I use along side these. And how can I keep it in good working order as my previous one went really slow and I lost lots of things due to it packing in. Only had it 3 years.

Typically you do not need anything extra...when u buy a new computer..it comes with a trial virus...sometimes spyware protectors..but u have to pay to for the real version...so..good luck..oh and u have a bvuilt in fire wall..:) good luck
There are better antivirus solutions than Norton but you could get a firewall (hardware firewall is the best solution) and Spybot - Search %26 Destroy and Ad-Aware which are meant for malware removal and prevention. Both are free for personal use and very useful. HijackThis is also extremely useful tool when you suspect your system is infected but no program picks anything up. You should post a HijackThis log on some PC help forums and ask if there's anything suspicious on it if you yourself don't know and think something is wrong.
I have used Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. http://www.computeractive.co.uk/ On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category.I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps.
The windows firewall should be switched on. If you don't like that or dont have one try www.zonealarm.com
