My computer is going really slow opening programs and starting up what do i do?

It also doesnt respond when I try to do more than one thing like listen to music and use the internet.

I have zonealarm internet security suite and ccleaner, i use them both but it hasnt detected anything like a virus or spyware...what should I do to troubleshoot this?

Thanks,

bri

This is an almost sure symptom of not enough RAM (memory, NOT disk space.)

If you're on XP, get *at least* one GB of RAM. I hear Vista requires at least two, but Vista is so buggy I would recommend against it.

You may have to many things on your desktop. If so delete what you dont use. If this does not work then. Or you might downloaded something thats killing your cpu. If this does not work download a new operating system.
go to control hit performance and maintnaice then clean up drive c free up space on your hard disk when done hit rearage items to make you hard disk run faster and clear all your browsing history
Ok ...open ccleaner...not to use the program just to see how much Ram you have and your processor speed ...usually if you don't have enough ram you will encounter these problems....
