When I am connected to the internet, every ten minutes or so, a "flurry" of messages pops up, saying that they have scanned and blocked an email, in such numbers that I have to disconnect from the internet just to take time to close them all. They are from our security software, I think- Symantic, I think? It does not seem to matter what website or program I'm running at the time.
Also, I don't know if this is related or not, but about three days ago, my homepage switched to Google and would not switch back to yahoo, even when I reset in in "internet options".
Has anyone ever had any similar experience, and if so, what did you do to fix it? Please, I'm DESPERATE.
(No new programs or websites have been accessed recently to my knowledge.)
Computer problem involving many pop-up email scans? I'm DESPERATE.?vincent
Your computer is now likely "owned" and is being used by the organized internet crime gangs to send out thousands of spam e mails a day without you doing a thing.
Your computer is now part of a "botnet" (I'll let you google that word).
Chances are your computer is severely infected and needs to be cleaned up. Something seems to have slipped past your Symantic anti-virus. Your Symantic is current and up-to-date with the latest virus signature definitions, isn't it???
