If you're looking for an Anti Virus program - Computer Associates provides free, very comprehensive anti virus software for Microsoft Operating System users. Though it's free, it's a great software and our company uses the same version for commercial use, even though it's paid for, for that purpose.

As for Spyware - it is software that runs in the background and spies on your computer activity, by tracking your keystrokes on the keyboard and sites you visit on-line etc... This way it can track and capture your credit card information and other personal info that you may enter on a website.

If you have or think you have spyware - use Spybot to try and remove it. There are some it will not be able to remove and you may have to get a commercial version like Computer Assoicates Pest Patrol, but Spybot is free and a good way to start.
