Computer antivirus software question + backup program?

Trend micro has the highest rated security suite software but Bit Defender is also rated good and includes a backup program.

Will that type of backup program allow me to create a bootable cd with a copy of my current hard drive or just files?

If just files what is a low cost good backup software that is easy to use and will create what I described above?

What is the best antivirus suite that will run on both a windows xp home pc and a Vista Dell 1501 Laptop???

As for antivirus, the list is endless although today, you really ought to be worrying abouy an antispyware which is the most important protection you can get for your computer today. For that, I recommend Webroot antiavirus with antispyware and firewall. It is pretty reasonable, has good customer support, and is a very good scanner and great for protection. As for backup- although it is a little pricey, I would definetely recommend norton ghost. You can create a bootable backup of your computer with the os, all of your programs etc. and you will be ready to go. Also, their technical support is great and Norton Ghost doesnt take up too much space on your hardrive. Email me at tompic823@aol.com because I have a little tip to tell you that cannot be posted on yahoo answers or it will be blocked. Good luck.

Computer freezing. Sometimes the screen is freezing with no rhyme nor reason. It doesn't matter

Computer freezing. Sometimes the screen is freezing with no rhyme nor reason. It doesn't matter what site I amliveupdate

I think you have to many programs running all at once so you need to go to your start menue and select run type in masconfig...now start unchecking all those needless programs that are running at the same time slowing your computer down. Rember your not getting rid of the programs because you can allways go to your start menue and bring any program up that you need. I will list a few outer things you can do to speed your computer up,

Allso defrg often,do your disk clean ups weekly.

Cleaning your registry will allso help you speed your computer up. http://www.ccleaner.com

And make sure you have a good spyware remover aswell as a good antivirus program

Have a nice day

When your computer freezes it is because the memory in your computer chip is too busy.

Often trying to do too many things at once will confues the computer and rather than make a choice,it will freeze. If you click the mouse constantly you are constantly sending commands to do something. That will do it too.

Freezing also can indicate a software conflict. have you installed any new software recently?

Uninstall it and see if that stops the freezing. if it does, then read the .txt file in the root directory on the install disk and see if you have a program already on your computer that conflicts with the new one.
Sounds to me like your having overheating problems. Try opening up your pc and blowing out all the dirt with a vacuum or one of those air in a can things. If this is a labtop then make sure there enough space for the computer to breath when you are using it..

Does anyone have yahoo online protection with norton security center?

If so, does your computer act slow when they both start, once you have turned on your computer? I mean I first got yahoo online protection, but it told me to update with norton virus preotection center. Now, it seems that mostly Norton is my virus preotection. AT%26T doesn't do much anymore.

So, do I still need AT%26t, or could I just stick with Norton to keep my cimputer going fast at start-up?

Use only one.

This is what a Microsoft MVP has to say about the subject. You may also want to consider reading her entire web-page on "How to prevent Malware". It is one of the best that I have seen.

"Never install more than one Antivirus and Firewall! Rather than giving you extra protection, it will decrease the reliability of it seriously! The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, your system may lock up due to both software products attempting to access the same file at the same time. Also because more than one Antivirus and Firewall installed are not compatible with eachother, it can cause system performance problems and a serious system slowdown."

Good luck.

Well, there should be a bar at the top with something about "security warning" and only pops up when you download. If that happens, then click on the box and just press "Dowload File" (something like that).

Do i need to install antivirus and other security programmes when we have ubuntu ?

Do i need to install antivirus and other security programmes when we have ubuntu ?microsoft office

Well, I think antivirus programms for linux do not exist, but I'm not very sure. As in all operating systems there are some security issues but ubuntu is pretty secure! One thing that you could do to protect your computer is to have all it's programms updated.

Hope this helps!

Do i need to install antivirus and other security programmes when we have ubuntu ?norton antivirus

You don't need an antivirus in Linux, just don't run your pc as root - in Ubuntu it's even secure, root is accesible only thru a password protected command.

But, if you are really paranoid about your security you can install Linux antivirus like http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-for-linux... download the .deb and double click it as root.
you don't need a anti virus program or a firewall, because Linux is very secure

If get anti-virus security suite with firewall, should I uninstall my personal firewall first?

I know you can't have 2 anti-virus programs on a computer at same time. Want to avoid similar problem. Also have Spy Bot..should I uninstall that also?

If get anti-virus security suite with firewall, should I uninstall my personal firewall first?microsoft

can't have 2 firewalls

spybot is ok

go to majorgeeks.com

and download

avg for virus and malware.

and download ad-aware for spyware.

it is free and good.

If get anti-virus security suite with firewall, should I uninstall my personal firewall first?norton ghost

yes uninstall youre firewall because it will conflict with youre suite's firewall and you should keep spybot just turn off the "tea timer" and run scans with it every once in a while.
Its ok too have Anti Spyware on the same computer as anti virus software so dont uninstall spybot
soybot is a spyware program its not a firewall, therefor you will be fine keeping spybot
