It is so slow now I cannot use the computer. Any way to fix this?

Do you have search indexing or Google Desktop Search installed? When you service pack a system and apply updates these programs reindex new files on your computer and slow it down for some time. The other answerer may be also correct however, SP2 adds some functionality and new(er) features to XP and you may need to look at some more RAM
